Dr Pat
Hi! I'm Dr Patrick Koliwan, a medical doctor and technology enthusiast based in Papua New Guinea. With over 15 years of clinical experience working across rural and urban communities, I have a strong passion for tackling tropical infectious diseases, particularly Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS.
I'm deeply committed to women's and child health, focusing especially on safe, supervised pregnancies and deliveries, and family planning approaches that actively involve both partners. I'm also keenly interested in supporting families to ensure every child experiences a healthy early life.
Alongside this, I'm increasingly focused on the changing health landscape in PNG —particularly the rise of lifestyle diseases. I believe addressing these emerging challenges through preventive measures, patient education, and realistic health planning is essential for a healthier future.
One of my core beliefs is that healthcare systems should be scalable, sustainable, and easy to maintain. Technology plays a crucial role here—particularly in patient management, data collection, and analysis. Delivering culturally relevant health messaging is equally vital in making healthcare accessible, equitable and meaningful to all levels of society.
I'm excited about exploring the intersection of medicine and technology to build practical solutions that improve health outcomes for our communities.
